7 Irresistible Lunch Deals for Students in the East

It is quite difficult to balance my Hobby-Study Life as a ‘O’ Level student this year… Plenty of Homework and Revision to do, but I still try to always satisfy my stomach with good food despite of my long School hours! Many students share the same plight as me, all looking for good, cheap lunches between extra classes nearby.

But, it is very difficult to find a good deal that balances between quality, quantity and value. So, look no further my fellow students in the East, here is my (Highly Subjective) list of Student Lunch Deals in the east of Singapore! Oh, by the way, all the restaurants in this List are sit down restaurants, no ‘Fast Food’… If you are wondering why, it is very simple, Fast Food is unhealthy and you shouldn’t eat it so often!

1)Eighteen Chefs

Anyone who loves Western food should AT LEAST have heard of this place. However, those of you living under a rock, Eighteen Chefs is a Restaurant serving good halal Western food.

For the hungry students, Eighteen Chefs offers their FAMOUS Cheese Baked Rice or Pasta with Ice Lemon Tea and Ice Cream starting from $6.40. Normally when I go there, I will order mine with Double Cheese and Beef slices… So the Price will slide past $10… But if you are smart with your choices, it could cost less than $8!

2)Seoul Garden

image

Seoul Garden needs no big introduction, it is a Korean BBQ restaurant, one of the Biggest Korean Restaurant chain in Singapore, before the wave of Korean BBQ restaurants came in a few years ago.

Many people will boldly claim that there are plenty of better choices for Korean BBQ in Singapore, but Seoul Garden has a great Student Deal of $14.99 for a weekday lunch all-you-can-eat buffet! But, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you are heading back to school for more classes… Unless you don’t mind smelling like BBQ meat in class…

3)Hot Tomato

A favourite hangout for Students, Hot Tomato is a Western Restaurant serving Western food, mainly Pastas.

Here, they have a student deal… $9.50++ for a plate of their well-known Aglio Olio pasta, a side salad with a choice of Protein. I usually go for the Sirloin Steak, which isn’t the best or biggest steak I have ever tasted… But, nevertheless it is a good deal…

4)Pepper Lunch

A personal Favourite of mine, Pepper Lunch is a Japanese Chain of restaurants (and stalls at food courts) that serve their famous Beef Pepper Rice and Steak… And of course other meats and stuff on Hotplates!

Their student deal (only at their restaurants, not express unfortunately) is on weekdays starting from $6.50++, they offer their famous Beef Fried Rice! I personally, take advantage of this deal quite often… And if the pepper rice is not your cup of tea… For a little more, they also have pastas and Hamburger Steaks.

5)Fish and Co.
(Editor’s Choice! Read the full review here!)

A famous restaurant for Fish and Chips, Fish and Co. is great place to go for GIGANTIC portions of the oh-so comforting and crispy Deep-Fried Fish with French Fries.

Their Student Deal costs $10 nett, and it comes with a soft drink and a choice of Various Fish and Chips and Pastas! Additional course of Soup or Drumlets are at $3.50. I usually get the Arctic Fish and Chips as I have this thinking that Fishes in colder waters taste better, I know… I am weird… Their New York or Best Fish and Chips is worth a try to the Sane people here… Haha!

6)Smiths

Another Option for Fish and Chips, Smiths is a more expensive option for Fish and chips than Fish and Co, but their student meal is cheaper…

For only $7.50 nett, students get to have the Fish Bites or the Chicken Supreme. However, they are rather small portions and their regular Fish and chips… Depending on what fish you choose, can cost upwards of $20… So, it is your own judgement of whether this place is worth trying…

7)Pastamania

image

Pastamania is everywhere in Singapore, and it is one of the more affordable places to go for Pastas and Pizzas… I personally have a bit of a problem with Pastamania… They tend to cook the pastas for too long and their Carbonara is made with cream… Sheesh…

But, nevertheless, they have a student deal of one pasta or pizza from a small selection, and one drink at $6.90… Or $5.90 if you like their Facebook page…
